Norborne Muir Professorship

Norborne Muir Professorship

Norborne Muir of Roanoke, Va., enlisted in the U.S. Navy Dental Reserve Corps after graduating from the MCV School of Dentistry in 1918. Muir's classmates said this about him: "With each day of association, one learns from this dentist a new idea in dentistry."

After his death in 1974, a bequest set up the Norborne Muir Chair, which supports and maintains the chair of orthodontics. Muir also funded two lectureships, one named in honor of his mother, Eugenia Fuqua Muir; the other for himself. Both lectureships are chosen by the dean.
