Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a second generation Malay-American, born and raised in Blacksburg, VA. I have a passion for soccer that my younger brother and I share. I try to stay as active as possible through exercise, snowboarding, golf, and hiking. I’ve always been fascinated by astronomy and even more so by great food.

Why are you passionate about dentistry?
When thinking about a career to pursue I realized dentistry was the one. It revolves around scientific evidence while utilizing abilities I greatly value: artistry, creativity, and dexterity. I want to apply these skills to provide the highest level of care to the patients I serve in the community.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am single and childless. My cat recently passed away. I enjoy exercising, playing volleyball, walks by the river, and quiet time with a good book. I’m a big foodie and love cooking, as well as exploring Richmond’s many restaurants. I also enjoy relaxing and hanging out with my best friends.

Why are you passionate about dentistry?
I’ve always loved dentist visits, even the smell of the office! A patient’s pain-free, broad smile and increased confidence after their visit resonate with me, as I know that meaning comes through service to others. That’s why I know my calling is to give comfort to others through dentistry.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am Afghan, therefore, being part of a large family is inevitable. My culture and family are an integral part of my life. I also enjoy art, writing fiction, and exploring with my friends. My hope is to travel the world to experience different cultures and eat good food.

Why are you passionate about dentistry?
As a kid, I drew people on paper and cut them into makeshift dolls. My passion for art continued into high school with both abstract and realistic portraits. Now in dental school, this form of art is evident in every aspect of dentistry. It is a field where I can both work and enjoy my hobby.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I was born and raised in Big Stone Gap, Virginia nestled within the Appalachian Mountains. By virtue of my upbringing I love spending time outdoors whenever possible. I enjoy crocheting, crafting, hiking, and writing about Appalachia and Virginia State Parks.

Why are you passionate about dentistry?
I am passionate about dentistry because it is the only career in which I can combine my passion for community, science, and art. Dentistry allows me to interact and care for my community on a daily basis while providing me the personal enjoyment of not only being creative, but employing science.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I enjoy taking advantage of nature's beauty and exploring the mountains. Hiking, kayaking, and fishing are all hobbies of mine, as well as painting, reading books, and crafting. As an EMT, I volunteer at a local fire department. Being active and living a healthy lifestyle are among other interests.

Why are you passionate about dentistry?
During adolescence, I suffered from self-esteem issues caused by many dental imperfections. Despite financial hardships, my parents were adamant that I receive orthodontic treatment. Since braces, I have more self-esteem and I have made it my mission to help others who dream of smiling beautifully.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I have lived in Richmond for the past 6 years with my wonderful rescue dog by my side. I plan to foster dogs when I buy my first house. My best friend and inspiration is my mother. Playing with my niece and nephew is when I am at my happiest. I also enjoy singing, photography, hockey, and crafting.

Why are you passionate about dentistry?
I'm the first in my family to pursue a health profession. As a patient, I admired dentists for their artistry, leadership, and ability to heal. While caring for a child with autism, I discovered my passion for special care dentistry. No career could be a better fit for my personality and talents.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am 26 years old and a rising D2. I was born and raised in Pakistan and moved to the United States in 2006 with my parents and my older sister. I am fluent in Urdu, Punjabi and English. Fitness is very important to me and during my spare time I love to try out new workout routines and go running.

Why are you passionate about dentistry?
Dentistry is a physically and mentally challenging field that requires ample creativity. Every procedure has its rules but amazingly you can personalize your work to match your expertise. Every day you get an opportunity to learn something new and enjoy the satisfaction of helping others.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My wife, Carol, and I are from originally from Richmond, VA. We enjoy sailing, swimming, hiking, camping and music. I play the mandolin and banjo. We have two cats and a baby due in August. I practiced geology for 6.5 years before dental school. Carol is a nurse anesthetist in southwest Richmond.

Why are you passionate about dentistry?
I love the patient interaction combined with the high level of critical thinking and hand skills involved with dentistry. I have seen first hand how dentistry affects peoples lives and look forward to many years of working with patients to achieve a shared goal.
