Robert M. Saunders Scholarship Fund

Robert M. Saunders Scholarship Fund

Robert M. Saunders dedicated his life and talents to serving the dental profession. In 1939, he purchased his late uncle's dental equipment for $1,600 and opened up his own dental laboratory in Roanoke, Va.

After his death in 1986, Saunders' children created this fund to honor their father's life and to continue his service to the dental community by financially rewarding a third- or fourth-year dental student.

The award goes to a dental student who has achieved exceptional academic credentials and also has demonstrated financial need.

Criteria

  • Preference given to a D3 or D4 student with demonstrated financial need, excellent academic credentials, and who intends to practice in an underserved area.
