Dental Fund
This endowed fund was launched in 1954 to help the school address its greatest needs. Established with a gift of $100 from Dr. Gordon T. Talton, the fund has grown to become one of the largest unrestricted endowments for the school. Dean Harry Lyons employed various approaches to add to the fund, including a Class of 1961 pledge of $42,000 over a 10-year period. At the time, the Journal of American Dental Association cited the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry for the extraordinary class gift.
